Monica Peterson is an inspirational speaker with an incredible message of transformation. She is also a published author of numerous articles in magazines and newspapers. She is a former freelance journalist and PR consultant. As the #NarcCoach, Monica helps women overcome abuse and transform their lives.

As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Center (N.A.R.C.), a 501c3 non-profit and Social Enterprise, they provide personal and professional development, one-on-one coaching, non-therapeutic spiritual counseling, and support groups.

At N.A.R.C., they focus on the Four Pillars of Health: Mental Health, Physical Health, Financial Health, and Spiritual Health, to help men, women, and youth overcome the lasting effects of narcissistic abuse. Our programs have proven highly effective in addressing these obstacles and empowering people to rebuild their lives.

Monica earned a B.A. degree in Mass Communication from Rust College (‘95), a historically black college in Mississippi. She also holds an M.B.A. from Fontbonne University (‘01) located in St. Louis, Missouri, and an M.Div. degree (Summa Cum Laude) from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Monica has been an ordained minister since 2008. She also has certificates in Domestic Violence, Boundary Training, and Narcissistic Abuse.

After recognizing she had been in an on-again-off-again abusive relationship with a narcissist for over fifteen years, Monica Peterson is now determined to bring awareness to this abuse in all forms. As a result of working with her nonprofit, women transform their lives from victims to victors through education, awareness, and prevention of narcissistic/psychological abuse, which is a rampant form of domestic violence.

She has created workshops, seminars, programs, retreats, and conferences that help women recognize the signs of toxic relationships, build self-confidence, set healthy boundaries, and achieve their goals. Her passion for helping people - men, women, and children has led her to work with other non-profit organizations such as Mentor St. Louis - Elementary School Youth Literacy Program, Women’s Connection - Girls 5-18 Life Skills Mentoring program, and The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Clubs - Youth 6-18. Her work with My Redeemer Lives Ministry, a non-profit drug and alcohol recovery agency, led her to work with men—providing classes on spiritual life skills, managing anger, and job readiness skills.

She has served as a minister and staff at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in St. Louis, Saint Philip A.M.E. Church in Atlanta, and she currently serves at the Embassy of Heaven located in St. Louis. Monica Peterson has provided speaking, training, education, and personal and professional development.

In January 2021, Monica Peterson became the Founder and President of the Narcissistic Abuse Institute LLC, a for-profit research organization that is registered with SAM to conduct government contracting.

Transforming people's lives after narcissistic abuse has become Monica L. Peterson's goal since 2017 when she founded the Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Center, a 501c3 non-profit.

The mission of the Narcissistic Abuse Institute LLC is to bring awareness, education, and prevention of narcissistic abuse through study and research by providing educational support services, materials, and training.

This year, N.A.R.C. is looking for a location for our N.A.R.C. Center to be a place of retreat for those overcoming emotional and psychological abuse. Monica and the organization are looking for an old church or school in the heart of North St. Louis. Monica proudly states “I was born and raised in North St. Louis. I went to church in North St. Louis. I worked in the old Commerce Bank on Natural Bridge and Newstead. I also worked in the Old Sears Building. I attended Sumner High School, and my mother and other relatives attended Beaumont High School. I remember Sara Louis Shrimp and Billy Burks Hamburgers. North St. Louis was a place where we had pride in ourselves. We took care of our neighbors and the children in the neighborhood. Our neighborhoods can get back to that greatness and even surpass it, but it's going to take work on everyone’s part. It is time for God's people to stand up and take back our city! It’s time to take authority of the jurisdictions God has given God’s people. My Pastor, Bishop A. Wayne Jones at Embassy of Heaven says this year is the year for us to walk in the SUPERNATURAL. “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zech 4:6 (KJV)

Let’s be honest—Easter, for many, has become just another holiday on the calendar. Bright pastel ads, last-minute retail runs, and overflowing candy aisles often drown out the deeper meaning of the season.

Some people leave a mark on your organization. Others leave a mark on your heart. Pastor Ricky D. Floyd did both. It’s hard to put into words what this man meant to me, to Kings & Priests, and to so many others who were blessed to cross his path.

I was seven the first time I hid a crack pipe. It was used, still warm, and I slid it under the big blue sectional before my big brother could open the door. He was at the front, shaking. “My mom said not to let anybody in,” he kept repeating.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and an opportune time for us to examine where we are as a people as well as a church when it comes to the stigmatization that continues to follow this critical area of our well-being. While society overall has begun trending toward more awareness, there has not been that same movement in churches, especially congregations that are historically houses of worship for people of color.

Marriage is ministry. It’s not about who leads, who follows, who talks louder, or who works harder. It’s about two people walking in agreement under God’s covering, carrying the weight of life together, and building a love that honors the Lord.

When most people think of the Prison Ministry, they think of going inside the correctional facilities. That is my passion, and I’ve done it for forty-seven years; however, I realize that other people find going into a facility intimidating.

To everything, there is a season. As one season comes to a close, another begins. Just as Moses passed the mantle to Joshua, I am honored to pass the mantle of leadership to Evangelist Leandra Green as the new pastor of Believers Temple Word Fellowship.
