The Promotional Principle: Stay in the press until you possess!

Pastor Charles Roach

Some things in life we need to give up, turn loose, leave alone; however, there are some we should never give up, never turn loose, and always hold on to. A major thing to tightly grip is to stay in the press until you possess. Let’s provide definitions to some vocabulary.

PRESS – to go forward with determined effort with the intent to acquire some specific desire.

POSSESS – take ownership; to lay hold of

All of us deal with laying hold of that which we desire most in life. Simply gaining those things that are necessary to sustain life can be a life-long struggle. Matthew 6:25-26 tells us to observe the following:

Because of this, I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you shall eat or what you should drink; nor for your body, what you should put on. Is not your life more than these? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

For a moment, consider the birds. They do not sow or reap; but, they do “press.” Each day, they move forward with determined effort with the intent to find food to eat, the grass to pad their nest and shelter for their young. They succeed because they stay in the press until they lay hold of their desires.

THE APPLICATION

You and I must trust God to take care of our needs. Paul assured of this in Philippians 4:6-7, 19:

In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses every man’s understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Out part is to press into these promises until we lay hold of them. Resist all doubts and fears. If God said He would, you can believe that He will. He is waiting for us to press into the manifestation.
