Welcome Home After Incarceration
"Pastor Alfred Long Sr."
Coming home after incarceration is more than a second chance—it is a sacred opportunity for healing, renewal, and hope. The journey is not without challenges. Many individuals carry invisible wounds from trauma, broken relationships, and the weight of starting over. But trauma-informed reentry reminds us that people are not defined by their past mistakes; they are defined by their God-given potential to rise above them.
Scripture declares, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1). This powerful promise speaks directly to the heart of reentry—it is about restoration, healing, and new beginnings.
When we embrace compassion, safety, and dignity in reentry, we partner with God’s redemptive work. Every step toward trust, every act of support, and every open door becomes a testimony that redemption is possible. Lives can be renewed, families can be restored, and communities can be strengthened. Trauma-informed reentry is not just about reducing recidivism—it is about unlocking purpose, instilling hope, and seeing the miracle of transformation.
Successful reentry is not just the work of programs or systems—it is the work of communities, churches, and compassionate hearts willing to walk alongside those who are starting over. Trauma-informed strategies give us the tools to see beyond a person’s past and to speak life into their future. But it takes all of us to create an environment where healing is possible and hope is restored The Bible reminds us, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). God’s heart is for restoration, and He calls His people to be partners in that healing. Every church that opens its doors, every mentor who listens without judgment, and every community member who offers a helping hand becomes part of God’s redemptive story.
Now is the time to rise and stand in the gap. Together, we can help returning citizens discover their God-given worth, break free from cycles of trauma, and step into the fullness of who they were created to be. When we embrace trauma-informed reentry, we are not just changing lives—we are transforming generations.
Isaiah 61:1 – “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives.”
Psalm 147:3 – “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Romans 12:2 – Renewing the mind is a key element of transformation
These scriptures remind us that healing, freedom, and renewal are possible to all our returning population through faith.
All we must do is suit up and show up!
